Get To Know Our Danny Sullivan Group Work Experience Students: Aine Monaghan & Blathain Griffin
Aine's Experience in her own words:
Work experience at Danny Sullivan Group has been an invaluable opportunity. Even though I had the chance to shadow all departments in the company, I was mostly part of the inductions and health and safety team. The skills I acquired, including a good telephone manner and improving my organisational skills, helped to develop my confidence in an office environment. I also booked construction workers for sponsorships, medical tests, renewed site cards and helped manage the administration for the company’s audit. I was particularly interested in the marketing side of the company; it was nice to apply my writing skills that I have developed from my English Literature degree at university. In five years time, I see myself having had the opportunity to travel and started working in a profession that I am interested in, maybe Law or Publishing. If I could give one piece of advice for someone who is considering an apprenticeship or work experience, I would say be on time, polite and willing to help.
Blathain's Experience in her own words:
I first found out about the Danny Sullivan Group work experience through my brother who used to work for the company as a labourer. My main role in the office is to check and review old files are updated on our payroll system and if by chance anything is missing I upload it to the system. I also work closely with the inductions team answering phone calls and helping the team with filing and audits. I have gained great organisational skills that I can use when I return to university after the Summer. I have developed confidence when interacting with the public through phone calls in a professional manner. I learnt how to work as part of a team. I have gained a considerable amount of experience in management systems and payroll software. I think my greatest achievement during my work experience is gaining confidence with the payroll system and learning the ins and outs of using its reporting function. In five years time, I see myself having graduated from university, in a full time job and self-sufficient. It’s a great experience to work in such a busy, professional business. My advice would be to work hard and get involved helping in all departments as the experience you get is second to none.
